Online retailing fraud, simply put, is any deceptive activity conducted in the online shopping space with the intention of exploiting consumers or businesses. It takes various forms, such as identity theft, phishing schemes, and the distribution of counterfeit products. Fraudsters constantly evolve their tactics to stay one step ahead
We all hear various incidents about such frauds.Personally I haven't experienced any and obviously I don't even want to experience such online fraud .
But let me share a experience of my friend
He wanted to buy a iPhone.We all know the craze a iPhone has .Many people desire this product
So he was planning to buy a iPhone so he was looking up on the internet .
He came across a website which was offering the phone at a very cheap rate.
Very cheap compared to the market rate.My friend was kinda skeptical becoz he never saw such website before but when he entered the website it looked so professional and well done along with good reviews that he convinced himself to buy it.So he ordered it and after few days when the product arrived he went into a state of shock because the product which arrived was a older version of the iPhone which nobody even buys in today's day and age . My friend was traumatized for the whole day and was finding ways to fix this chaotic sitaution It was such a mess at his house.Also he was my neighbour so I got to know something is wrong.So i enquired what happened .Even I was kind off taken aback .but my mindset was okay let's fix the problem first.
We called the helpline number of the website .We tried calling them 5 times but they weren't picking up .My friends trauma was increasing after every single call.Finally they picked up the call and we told our problem and he said we will look into the matter and call you back
They called us back after 3 days and told us to return the phone along with the packaging and money will be refunded to them
My friend was furious .he said"First return my money!!!!!Then you will get back your damn old phone which nobody even buys"
So eventually everything took place and my friend vowed for a lifetime he would never buy from a NEW website
In conclusion as consumers, staying informed and adopting safe online practices can protect us from falling victim.
