Roll No. 512 Invasive data collection has become one of the leading issues where in our personal data right from signing up a simple form, watching movies or a series, browsing, puts an interesting question in front of all of us which is “Are we really secured about our interests and privacy”.The answer is no.
Nearly 50 to 60 percent of information is tracked and then used to pass our data to other institutions. The majority of our secured information shared is done by companies which are the biggest tech giants of the global world.Astonishingly, companies such as YouTube,Instagram which are driven on social media use this information for their own benefits. The obvious and the information provided by the user such as personal details, likes, dislikes are tracked by these platforms. It is based on this we receive all the marketing, advertising notifications to attract our attention based on what we love. Some of the data collected is also not done with due compliance and regulations. While we use any companies website instead of going through the whole procedure of so called “rules and regulations “ simply to save our time we accept its terms and conditions. These data collection mechanisms is what is so secretive but the ultimate success enhancer of the companies.
Examples can be so numerous starting from a simple smartphone device identifying your own search histories. In order to truly survive this humongous trap of revealing customer desires the only way is to be attentive as well as informative about such tactics used by companies to attract their product or service. While we appreciate the innovation taking place in the tech industry every thing has two sides of a coin.Unfortunately, the bad side is employing private information and making the consumers believe in the product thus launched.
Therefore if this continues to expand and grow it will eventually kill creativity and advertising standards and procedures which were once designed for the consumers.Slowly and steadily positives are also growing ,government is taking initiatives for protecting privacy and promote effective digital advertising and marketing.
